A comprehensive 5-day handgun instructor program designed to build knowledge in handgun skills, teaching students and creating a training program for armed professionals.

This course will cover a practical approach to self-improvement of handgun hard skills, Safety, Adult Learning Modalities, Instructor Development, Dry Fire programming, Teaching the new & experienced shooter, Risk Analysis, Performance Evaluation, Remediation, Range Culture, Qualification standards and the development of a high-quality live fire program.

This course will challenge new and experienced Instructors alike. A focus on the why behind the methods and skills, instructor demos, how data is useful in program design, human performance, and program credibility will be covered in depth. Students will have several opportunities for teach-backs, which will improve their abilities through honest instructor feedback, video review, and self-evaluation.

Upon successful completion of this 50-hour course, students will be awarded a Centrifuge Firearms Instructor Certification, along with access to lesson plans, training material, templates, PowerPoints, videos, and other relevant material.

Individual Equipment List:

• Duty Handgun with at least 3 magazines and magazine pouch.
• Handgun holster must attach via the belt (paddle holsters are not allowed). Holsters must provide an active or passive retention device and be able to keep the holster in place while running or moving in and out of awkward positions. NO Blackhawk SERPA holsters are allowed.
• Full duty belt (your normal work setup)
• Soft Body Armor and/or plate carrier
• 1500 rounds handgun ammunition
• CAT or SOF-T TQ on your person/kit (if you have a dedicated training TQ bring that too)
• Laptop w/ Word & PowerPoint
• USB Drive (8 GB or larger)
• Notepad, Clipboard, Pen & Sharpie Marker
• Handheld Flashlight and Batteries (Also: Weapon Mounted Light – if applicable)
• Cleaning kit for weapon system.
• Quality Eye protection, to include Clear Eye Protection for Low Light
• Electronic ear protection.
• 2 chem lights
• 10 Dummy/Training Rounds for your caliber handgun
• Shot Timer (any brand/version is fine – if you are purchasing new, we recommend: PACT Club Shot Timer 3)
• Support Side Holster, Mag Pouch & Belt Configuration that mirrors your regular set up. (Strongly recommended for the course – but not essential to attend)
• Clothing appropriate for season – kneepads recommended
• Water Bottle, snacks & daily lunch

Course Prerequisites:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Able to legally own a firearm.
  • Able to demonstrate and employ safe weapons handling during the course.
  • Competent handgun shooting skills.
