Applied Urban Sniper™ challenges the historical applications of a SWAT Sniper by applying a pragmatic approach to the role of modern-day snipers in law enforcement operations. This class challenges participants to think outside the box and explore how to expand the utilization of snipers in SWAT operations.
Applied Urban Sniper™ is an advanced, accelerated course designed to enhance the skills of modern law enforcement snipers through realistic and mission-focused training. The class emphasizes hasty deployments, overt and covert operations, undercover (UC) and confidential informant (CI) overwatch, as well as vehicle hides and related operations. Participants will also engage in detailed examinations of duty round performance when shooting through vehicle glass from overwatch positions, providing critical insights into real-world applications. Throughout the course, students will perform dynamic drills both individually and as part of two-person teams, fostering adaptability and teamwork in complex scenarios. This rigorous training prepares participants to effectively respond to the diverse challenges faced in urban and tactical environments.
Course Prerequisites
- Current LE / MIL / Gov credentials.
- Recognized basic sniper cert (i.e. POST, TCOLE, NTOA, LE, etc.) is mandatory.
- Able to demonstrate and employ safe weapons handling during courses of fire.
Individual Equipment List
- Precision rifle with a quality rifle scope with exposed elevation turrets and a MOA/MIL based reticle. 200 rounds of precision rifle duty ammunition (No .50 cal)
- All personal sniper related gear (deployment bag, tripod, rangefinder, data book, spotting scope, etc.)
- Night Vision / Thermal Device for precision rifle if available.
- Urban/vehicle hide kit
- Carbine with sling (100 rounds training/FMJ ammo and 30 rounds of duty ammunition)
- Handgun and magazine pouches (50 rounds of handgun ammunition)
- Holster must attach via the belt (paddle holsters are not allowed). Holsters must provide an active or passive retention device and be able to keep the holster in place while running or moving in and out of awkward positions. No SERPA or Vanguard type holsters.
- CAT or SOF T TQ on your person is mandatory an IFAK is recommended.
- Cleaning kit and gun lube.
- Eye protection and electronic ear protection.
- Full duty belt / tactical loadout (your normal work setup).
- Handheld flashlight, extra batteries and clear eye protection for low light work.
- 2 chem lights (any color).
- Note taking material.
- Water and snacks.
