Josh Townsend began his career in law enforcement in 2007 in Northern California. While there, he served as a member of the Crisis Response Team and was an Entry Operator and Firearms instructor. In 2012, Josh relocated to Colorado, where he is currently assigned as the Narcotics and Gang Unit Sergeant and serves as the Sniper Team Leader on his agency’s SWAT team. Additionally, he is part of the Instructor Cadre, where he acts as a SWAT instructor and department Lead Instructor for Firearms, Active Killing, Rescue Task Force, Building Searches, VCQB, and High-Risk Vehicle Stops. As a SWAT Sniper, Entry Team Leader, and Department Armorer, Josh brings extensive tactical knowledge and expertise in weapons systems. He is tasked with ensuring his department has the most current equipment and technology to stay mission-ready.

With over fifteen years of SWAT experience, a passion for training, and a penchant for teaching (and sarcasm), Josh is sought out as an adjunct instructor for basic and advanced SWAT and Sniper schools. He specializes in tactics, firearms, and low-light training. He has also developed an officer safety curriculum and has been invited to teach at regional academies.

The most effective training molds data, science, repetitions, and human performance into a deliverable instruction block. It enables students to understand and apply concepts through drills and scenarios, ensuring repeatability and real-world effectiveness under stress—this is the core of Centrifuge Training’s classes.
